Solaris Cancer Care’s 2026 Spring Garden Fundraising Lunch was an opportunity to celebrate 25 years of supporting West Australians affected by cancer, and to thank the people who have given so much of themselves to that work.
A cancer diagnosis changes lives , for the person receiving the news and for everyone close to them. Alongside the worry of cancer and its treatment come questions about work, family and how to manage everything ahead. For people living in regional WA, travelling far from home for treatments makes an already frightening time even more overwhelming.
This is why Solaris is so important. Their team offers someone to talk to, help finding the right services, practical guidance when people may not know where to begin, and holistic care options to help support patients through their treatment. That support extends to families and carers, who often need help themselves while trying to stay strong for someone they love.
Through the generosity and ongoing support of our Executive Chairman, Mrs Gina Rinehart AO, Hancock has backed Solaris for many years. Our recently expanded partnership, involving multi-million-dollar contributions from Hancock Prospecting and Hancock Iron Ore, is helping Solaris extend its services across the Pilbara, including additional cancer support and resources. This means more help for patients navigating care locally and in Perth, accessing counselling, therapies, support, and managing the practical difficulties that come with being away from home.
Hancock’s continued support of Solaris reflects Mrs Rinehart’s longstanding commitment to helping Australians facing cancer and our determination to make practical care and support more accessible to patients and families in country areas, especially across the Pilbara. We especially thank Dr David Joske, for his outstanding dedication in founding and championing, solaris care, bringing care, support and hope to thousands of cancer sufferers.
