Since the Treasurer thinks it’s OK to insult or deride Gina Rinehart for her immense generosity to others, much of it unknown to him, it seems only fair to point out that there are many other things, by way of difference, that it pains me to point out to him.
First, Mrs Rinehart inherited a debt-laden company and, within a decade, built it into a highly profitable one. Jim Chalmers has never achieved that. But he and his colleagues have done the opposite, namely, dragged Australia into a trillion-dollar debt that will beggar future generations.
Second, Mrs Rinehart has continued to build new and profitable businesses by having the ability to attract some of the best, most highly skilled and most loyal people in the world.
Dr Chalmers and the Labor government have done the exact opposite. Their policies, from energy, to defence, to education, to budget management, are but the tip of a large and sinking ship – Australia. They don’t know how to create wealth, ensure security or even when to abandon policies long after they have been shown to be unworkable.
