Safety in Water

The 11th Annual Pilbara Spirit Swimming and Lifesaving Carnival took place at South Hedland Aquatic Centre.

About 150 Year 5 and 6 students from schools across the Pilbara took part in a day of aquatic fun, fitness and friendly competition that featured swimming races, lifesaving challenges and aquatic sports designed to build essential water safety skills.

DECEMBER
Swimming festival

The Karratha Leisureplex hosted 164 swimmers from 12 clubs across the North West in the annual two-day Hancock Prospecting Pilbara Swimming Championships.

Broome Barracudas emerged as the 2025 club champions, followed closely in second by Karratha Amateur Swimming Club.
