Code Sports’ annual Power 100 list has put the spotlight on the actions of women away from the field of play more than ever before.
While Australia has come off the back of its most successful Winter Olympics – where two women secured gold medals — and plenty of Aussies have stood on top of the dais at world championships or broken world records, the rise and rise of women’s sport means the attention is not just on the game anymore.
Power is not just about success.
The Power 100 list recognises the influence wielded by an army of amazing women whose actions continue to advance sport in this country.
Some are outstanding athletes, whose achievements, magnetic personalities and actions away from the fields, courts and pools of the world attract sponsorship dollars, enduring partnerships and ticket sales while inspiring millions of social media followers and the next generation of talent.
Others are high-ranking managers, benefactors and board members whose often unrecognised efforts are shaping a generation of superstars and creating a solid pathway to a home Olympics and Paralympics.
All are shaping Australian sport and leaving an enduring legacy for the future.
