Hancock Prospecting boss Gina Rinehart has shut down claims she is influencing One Nation party policy through financial support.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported the party’s former national campaign director Sean Black was caught on covert recordings claiming the businesswoman “is secretly dictating” One Nation and senior adviser James Ashby may be using the party to “enrich himself”.
It is understood the allegations involving Ms Rinehart and One Nation will be the focus of Nine’s 60 minutes interview, due to air on Sunday at 7pm.
Ahead of the program’s broadcast, Mrs Rinehart has pushed back on the accusations with a statement released by Hancock Prospecting on Saturday afternoon.
“Over the past quarter-century, trade unions and their associated entities have given the Labor Party more than $221 million, supplying at least 27.4 per cent of the party’s itemised income, (Clearly Mrs Rinehart’s assistance to the One Nation infrastructure has been diminutive in comparison), according to the Centre for Public Integrity,” the statement said.
“If you wanted to ask anyone questions in regard to donation influence, we suggest you start with that quarter-century.”
