Peter Dutton has welcomed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese leaving the door open for pensioners to join the workforce but says action should have been taken in June.
Mr Dutton said in June it was known there was an “acute problem” within the economy and more workers were needed.
“There would be hundreds of thousands, potentially, of workers, in the workforce now,” he said during a media conference on Wednesday.
“Hundreds and thousands of days of work being completed that would add to our country’s productivity.”
