And the winners are …

DESPITE the ongoing uncertainty posed by Covid, which also harpooned another Logie Awards, there were plenty of social scene highlights in 2021.

An early standout was in March when Virgin Australia flew in Dannii Minogue, Anthony Callea and Erin Holland for the launch dinner of the airline’s new business-class menu, held inside the Virgin hangar at Brisbane airport.

The Gambaro Moet and Chandon Gala was the most glam fundraiser of the year – with the most expensive guest list.

The most impressive crowd, though, turned out for the finale runway of the Brisbane Fashion Festival at King George Square in August. Gina Rinehart, dressed in a custom outfit, mingled with the city’s wealthiest socialites, swimmer Ariane Titmus had just returned from Olympic glory, Amy and Emma Sheppard walked the runway alongside Jett Kenny and Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk debuted her new romance in the front row.

The most interesting event was a special Q&A with Oscar-winning costume designer Catherine Martin, organised by Brisbane Fashion Month and Screen Queensland, at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
