AFTER a record breaking Pan Pacific Championships, the Australian Dolphins signed off on their green and gold runway to LA 2028 with a visit to their battlefield of dreams – SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

In two years’ time, SoFi Stadium will be converted into the largest swimming venue in Olympic history, holding roughly 38,000 to 40,000 spectators and today the swim team toured the venue as part of the Dolphins’ LA Immersion experience – and blueprint – to topple the USA on American soil.

The Dolphins spent two days post Pan Pacs, visiting the site of the Olympic Village, along with Australian Olympic Committee delegates including Chef De Mission Anna Meares, visiting key locations and a site visit of SoFi Stadium.

The Dolphins team shocked the USA with 35 podium performances, 53 season bests, 33 PBs, which garnered 15 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze medals, during a fast and furious four-day Pan Pacs campaign.

The two-day trip to LA following the Pan Pacific Championships, finished with a trip to SoFi Stadium –  the AUD$7.8 billion NFL venue set to transform into a pool and create the most electric atmosphere in Olympic swimming history.

“I am so proud of this team on the back of the Commonwealth Games and the Pan Pacific Championships and this immersion experience is invaluable to our planning,” Head Coach Rohan Taylor said.

“We are two years out and we know where we’re going. Our trip to SoFi Stadium was about visualising the stadium and what our time at the LA Games will look like.

“But I am so proud of this team. Outside of the Olympics and World Championships, the Pan Pacific Championships are one of the toughest international meets we can expose our athletes to.

“Especially as for us – this comes on back of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, so it is a terrific test of mental and physical aptitude. We have seen the city, sampled the conditions and we better informed to take on the Americans in their own backyard.”
